Hi,

im not sure if a lot of folks know this but when the new model Aygo came out in late 2014 to 16 it had the same 68 bhp engine according to Autotrader dealer adverts as the older model then later they brought out the 71 bhp motor but heres the thing ; when you check the tax details for these early ones it shows no tax ratings as apposed to the later models from 2018 being £155 per year. Now this to me could be a good buy but there is just one problem? Does it also have with the older engine the same old MMT gearbox because those cars advertised out there are also saying X shift which according to my research these later auto or MMT boxes now called X shift were improved and so this yr Aygo would definatley be a good buy with such low taxation before they changed the ratings. Does any one know if they have the new or older box fitted? thanks

The second generation Aygo went on sale mid 2014. The engine (69bhp) was developed to meet Euro 6 standards. The automatic option was the X-shift - a developed version of the Multimode transmission.

As regards the Vehicle Excise Duty increase, this is more to do with the revised VED system that was introduced from April 2017.

The facelift second generation Aygo (71bhp) that was introduced mid 2018, had further modifications to the engine to improve efficiency and emissions.

So with the later box could be a good buy, thanks.
