hello got a quick question is it a good idea to put Redex Diesel Fuel System Cleaner or Liqui Moly Diesel Purge put into new diesel filter when changine it as to keep the injectors clean as i hear that the injectors in those 2.0d4d toyota avensis give bother later in years of driving.

Those injectors are not known for failing a lot. My Avensis 2.0 D4D has over 160 miles and I would guess its still the original injectors. Only the DPF injector is known to fail. I would just put the cleaner in the gas tank, when the fuel level is low.

what about diesel purge when changing the diesel filter bud do u think thats a good idea.its just i read on here that some avensis owners had bad fuel economy when the car gets more miles on them thought if used that diesel purge or redex in it might keep them working great

I'm not sure, but it might clean better instead of just putting it in the gas tank. I do not think its gonna damage anything and if I had the chance i would have done it.

Yes its true, the 1AD and the 2AD is getting bad MPG and is smoking, when engine has a lot of miles on it. My car has that issue and its getting 12km/L while its supposed to do 18,5. I have been adding these diesel fuel system cleaner for a while and it doesn't solved the issue. The smoke is coming due to the DPF injector or the ECU. But as i see your car is from 2014, it cannot have that issue because Toyota solved it in 2012, so nothing to worried about. Me and 2 other have been in a other forum for a while to try to see if we can solved the issue.

I use this in a full tank of fuel once or twice a year:

https://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/archoil-ar6400-d-max-professional-diesel-engine-turbo-dpf-cat-cleaner-concentrate.html

Our 2012 Avensis has never had any injector, DPF or EGR issues at all despite being used almost entirely for short journeys in the last few years. Of course that's not to say it would have done if I hadn't used Archoil but....

That’s the Powerenhancer product I used for our diesel cars, including Yaris. Now we have Toyota hybrids we use Powerenhancer but suitable for petrol cars as we put in as we fill up, just a small recommended amount. - 5ml per 50 litre fuel.

I used Redex diesel system cleaner in my last car (Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI Titanium with DPF) for 7 years and 88,000 miles without any problems. It’s a universal product suitable for many diesel cars. Add half a bottle to a tank of fuel. No mess. Cleans the entire system and injectors. Currently £2 a bottle from Wilko (does two tank fulls). Photos below. Hope this helps.

Have used various injector cleaner up to 6 times a year, both were new when bought and one did 240000 the other 185000 no problems with injectors or smoking,my experience of engines that smoke have not been serviced with the correct oil and frequency of oil changes. Robust as they are Toyota like Pugs don't take kindly to cheap oil and missed oil changes.
