Avensis airbag light

Hello 👋

My phone cable got stuck in Avensis steering wheel and got stuck deep into slip ring eventually breaking the slip ring ribbon resulting in loosing horn, dial info and continuous airbag light.

Today i changed the slipring (2nd hand) resumed all Electricals horn etc but air bag light stayed lit.

i have tried few tricks like disconnecting Battery joining both cables together to reset capacitors, turning the key to on position 5-7 times etc but to no avail.

Considering the fault developed when the phone charger cable damaged the slip ring ribbon, i don’t know where it could have impacted?

I don’t think there would be any cheap instrument available to diy the fault other than taking it to a tech and pay high price. I am though keen to spend some cash on instrument rather as it would be a good learning point.

can someone please have any advice?

I think the airbag light stay lit if You haven't read/deleted fault codes after slip ring change. It needs a proper diagnostic software (Techstream etc.) to do it.
