Retro fitting rear electric windows

Hello all

Has anyone done this? I didn't even realise my wifes 2018 Yaris Hybrid had rear manual windows. Apart from the rear motors and switches and changing the drivers door switches, what issues am I likely to come across, apart from the rear door cards will I need anything else, looms etc, or is it just not worth bothering.

I was going to do the powerfold mirror upgrade but after buying the switch it appears on our loom that the wires for the last 2 pins are not present.

Biggest issue for me is will it need enabling in the ECU/BCU

The last electric window upgrade I did was on my 1983 Ford Escort RS1600i in the 80's, and that was easy, wiring looms these days are the work of the devil.

Not worth the bother.

Live with it until you trade it in for your next car which will have them.

What will happen to the car warranty by doing the proposed modification??

Well, any faults involving the window system and related electrics probably would not be covered any more, but apart from that it should remain intact.

The body loom may be different, you will need both rear door looms, no programming required

first off remove the drivers door switch and see how many wires it has

That is a good point about the warranty, it hadn't even crossed my mind.

I'll scrap this idea then, that's another job I don't have to do.

Thanks all. 👍

I went through a similar thing with my Mk2; Realised it didn't have rear electric windows, was annoyed and resolved to put them in, started investigating how to put them in, then found out it was only foreign models that had them, started trying to find part numbers, eventually gave up because it got more fiddly than it was worth... Also by then I hated the car so much it was very much CBA!

I tend to agree, not worth the hassle.
