Intermittent Radio Reception On New Hybrid.

Radio reception poor on DAB and FM on my new Hybrid Yaris. Is anybody else having problems or indeed is there a fix ( Software maybe)?

Just found out my Dash Cam is causing the problem. Is there a "work round" to rectify this. Any ideas welcome.

What Dashcam is it?

It depends whether the EM noise is from the camera or the power cable.

If it's the camera, not a lot you can do; If you understand electronics you could try opening it up and making an RF shield for the component that's making the noise but that's a whole subject on its own.

Usually tho' it's the power cable - Rerouting it is the best option in that case.

You can also try putting a ferrite choke on the cable to see if that helps.

How are you powering it actually? Hardwire kit or a cigarette lighter 12v to USB adaptor?

If it's the latter, you can also try sourcing a better quality one that is less noisy.

I had my dash cams front and rear Next Base transferred by the dealership from my 2019 trade in, and don’t have any problems. All the questions Moo asked are relevant.

It seems only the Auris has this affliction (up till now) - i would put it down to poorly shielded aerial cable, a ferrite on the end of the dab coax should sort it - as the ferrite removes the interference from the affected signal

Mobile DAB reception will always be a bit hit and miss, rather like mobile phone reception.

It is improving, but there will still be areas where reception fails.
