Black box and lens question

Hello so I have recently got a toyota yaris hybrid from 2017 and I have a question about the black box thing behind the rear view mirror , i dont know what it does and why does it have those camera lens things ?

The black box and camera behind the interior mirror is part of the Toyota Safety Sense system - see extract from a Toyota media release:

"Toyota has made Toyota Safety Sense a standard feature on all 2017 Yaris models.

This ensures that every car in the line-up is equipped with systems that can help prevent an accident happening, or lessen the consequences if an impact does occur. The package includes a Pre-Collision System with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Automatic High Beam, Lane Departure Alert and, on models higher than Entry grade, Road Sign Assist."
