tailgate adjustment? mk1

i seem to have a rattle from the tailgate lock area , i loosened the bolts but theyre not slotted

 

is the any adjustment on these or do i need to file the mounting holes?

Check the rubber on the bracket of the window motor, also the wiper motor boss can wear meaning the motor can move

can you feel movement in the hatch ? iirc you just need to loosen the strike plate and give it a hit with a soft mallet/hammer

edit. Just a thought the boot handle holds the studs/bolts through the glass this holds the latch, with age and use these studs/bolts pull out/strip the threads of the plastic, iirc these studs/bolts also hold the window motor

its all tight...if you grab the glass theres a little bit of slop 

ive wrapped some tape around the bar for now to see if its that before messing too much

You adjust the lock by loosening the 2 bolts either side of the lock, pictured here

The hole in the body is bigger than the bolts, this allows for movement
