RAV4 MK5 wheels centre caps paint peeling off

My RAV4 is under 2 years old and done 16000 miles. A few weeks ago, I noticed that on all four wheels, the paint started to peel off the centre caps (on the outside edge, as shown in picture). Car has always been washed by me, using only mild car shampoo and without any wheels cleaners.
Visited my Toyota dealer today and they got the warranty claim approved in 2 hours. Parts should be delivered in three weeks and wheels need to come off to change them, so another visit is booked.
The technician has said that no other customer reported the issue, just curious
if you guys seen it or is it just me?
On the other hand, centre caps on the 5 years old Auris are fine.

By any chance do you use a jet wash? Just usually that’s enough to strip clear coat off centre caps (assuming they are clear coated).

….. or do you use a local company to clean the car (they may well use a pressure washer)

Not using jet wash on wheels (learned that lesson a long time ago) and no one else cleaned it. My dealer has it on their system not to wash and vac both of my cars. The caps are painted with silver-ish colour, not just clear coated. Might just be a faulty batch of centre caps.
Anyway, top marks to RRG Salford, for sorting it under warranty.

Glad you got it sorted. I do remember that when I owned one of my Skoda Yeti cars there was a batch of the front Badge that had a touch of the measles. They were also replaced under warranty even if the warranty period had run out.  So it might well be a reactions on the metals and paint during the manufacturing process?
