There are a few threads on the subject, you need to make sure you get one with the same part number - you may need to get the mileage corrected too

Dealers are usually the worst people for this sort of component-level repair; They will only recommend replacement. They wanted something like £700 to replace the display unit in my brother's Mk1 Yaris when the LCD stopped working!

Another company you can try is http://www.bba-reman.com/gb/index.aspx

They repaired the dodgy LCD display in a Porsche on Wheeler Dealers many years ago during the Edd China era!

It's 17-18 years old, and it's electronic with a VFD display - the biggest killer of electronics are the old capacitors that break down in some cases taking out the whole pcb, with that dash it suffers from heat stress over time

On another note the electronics repair industry is all but dead for the most part it's a very niche skill set, something's are not worth the cost of fixing, for example to fix an LCD monitor may take 3 hours plus parts - i can pick up a brand new led monitor with better specs for less than the repair, parts are another issue they are made obsolete quickly, or they just hike the price to make something beyond economical repair (BER)

Circuit diagrams and schematics are another issue, if you are lucky they are behind a paywall, if you can get them at all, i have had to sign NDA's for technical documents in the past

Yeah sadly not many companies do component-level repair - I kinda get why, it is a highly skilled job and often time consuming, whereas most people just replace the part instead because it's usually cheaper than the man-hour cost.

It's similar reason to why it's so hard to find a good mechanic who groks cars and knows how things are linked and cares enough to use that knowledge to trace faults, rather than the part-replace-roulette couldn't-give-a-monkey's types that are so common now.

I,m a little bit surprised there does,nt seem to be many aspects of this club helping to preserve these excellent cars by sourcing companies who repair these type of parts fairly complexed bit of kit which the dealers say is now obselete.I come from a world where you fix things rather than throwing them away.I also run a bmw 5 series tourer even older than the yaris bmw were much better at helping to preserve the older cars although that all seems to be changing
