My YC Excel ordered in Feb 22 came with a choice of standard Smart Connect or City Pack.

Discovers wireless connect on an Android phone is make dependent.  As it does not have wireless charging it makes no odds that I have to use a wired connection.

@nlee ordered the design model. When I ordered in February the Satnav was not even available on the Excel. Saying that I am getting used to connecting my phone each time now to use apple CarPlay.  With the long delivery delay on my car it was a shame that I couldn’t add the option later on.

It does annoy my OCD having a MAP button that doesn't do anything, but on balance I'd rather not pay more for a redundant satnav system. It's expensive to update once the free updates run out, will have worse long-term support, and is worse than the satnav on most phones, so on balance I'd take the Apple/Google connectivity over satnav. IMHO it was one of the smarter decisions Toyota UK made to keep the costs down.

@Cyker same here, just annoyed that the MAP button is redundant, but as you say the Apple CarPlay Satnav works well. Only causes a problem when out of 4G, although easy to plan routes in advance on your phone when you have a Wi-Fi connection.

It will go to Apple map if your phone is connected.  I presume it would do the same for Android.

Don't think so - if you have a 'droid phone, use AA to connect and then use Google Navigation

Picked up my Yaris design yesterday - very happy with the car and managed 72 mpg on the 50 mile trip back through mixed A roads.

With the map button it will default to the map app you are using on iPhone, so will load up Google maps if that is what you are using.

You can navigate using Google maps with no signal, just download the offline maps - see vids below from North Wales SXS.

I've added a wireless CarPlay dongle and MagSafe charger for wireless charging so can use CarPlay without plugging in now.

No map button on the new smart connect system, it's a different casing and screen (I'd say it's much higher resolution than my RAV screen and the Yarises I've driven). There are only 4 flush buttons down the left side of the screen. There is also no need to update the maps, it's done incrementally over the air in the same way phone based maps are done. There's an in built 4G module that does this as well as all the live traffic, accidents & hazards, speed limits and speed cameras (you can see this because it indicates the signal strength of.the connected phone as well as the inbuilt cellular network). It really is a big step forward from what I can see so far.

In terms of cost, I haven't sussed it out yet. It looks to me like this is going to be a subscription service in future. It appears that my wife has smart services active until Jan 2027 so I guess the first 4 years are included. It would be interesting to see how much they intend to charge after that.

It definitely specced Sat Nav when we ordered the Excel in early March. I have the normal Sat Nav system on my RAV and don't use it. I'm happy with Android Auto using TomTom Amigo (free) for maps. I also bought a Carsify to make it wireless connection, so I'm more than happy with it like that.

Glad you've finally got your hands on your new Yaris! A great start to 2023 and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Yes white isn't the greatest colour to keep clean (I toyed with the idea of washing mine today but it looks like rain so...) but it does suit the car I think and saves a few bob too!

It’s better than black, but silver is best for not showing up the dirt.

Brilliant news! Mine was also ordered in June and left the factory on the 7th December but still showing as being at Zeebrugge. I think it’s decided to stay in Belgium.

And it’s still shown as being in Zeebrugge 🤷‍♀️.

Mine was in Zeebrugge for about a month so hopefully you will get an update very soon! What model did you get and did you have any extra features?

It’s a Design. The only addition is the parking pack.

I'm not quite sure with the parking pack but I know the tech pack and panoramic roof delay the order.

Ours still in zeebrugge since 19/11. Thoroughly unimpressed.

Not good news. Has Toyota communicated what the problem is? Following the delivery of my car I have been sent out a survey from Toyota, however all questions are directed around the dealer only and not Toyota. Have filled it out to explain that the dealer has appeared to have done their best but didn’t receive any regular updates due to lack of communication from Toyota. It was just a guessing game when the car would arrive.

I have sympathy to those still waiting with no answers. Hoping that things get resolved quickly for you.

The Panoramic roof for me added 2 months over standard model plus an additional 4 months.  All in all added 6 months. If I had known this at the time I wouldn’t have ordered the pan roof, but saying that it does transform the interior of the car, making it feel very airy and spacious.

Some tale about a backlog due to vehicles intended for Russia being a blocker somehow at zeebrugge. That said, Toyota CR also advised it would be in UK on 28/12 and clearly that’s a fail. The wait continues…

Morning All,

Wondering what everyone’s experience is of getting responses from their dealer? I’ve emailed the salesperson and the actual dealership over a week ago to check on whether a March delivery is still likely and not received a response. I’m going to go in person this weekend, but getting the feeling that their customer service was only excellent when they wanted me to buy the car!

I know it’s busy, and they may not have any info but I would much rather they say that than ignore me completely. Anyone else had the same problem?

I was told at the time of order that the pano roof would add a few months delay and push it from September to Dec/Jan and that was about right in the end as I received car last weekend. Mine was also a design with pano roof and parking pack added. No delays at Zeebrugge.

Ours has had a fairly similar timeline to yours (although not as delayed). I'm bringing it home on Friday. Hopefully yours arrives soon. 🤞

The communication was significantly slower post-purchase - Ron Brooks, Ilkeston.

Emails usually answered within 3-5 days, which I don't think is too bad. It's rapid when they want your business, which is understandable.
