My wife's new Yaris Design, ordered in March, was meant to be getting delivered in October. No updates at all on the App - then we got a call a few days ago saying the car will be ready for collection soon as it had arrived at our local dealer! The App then updated saying the car had arrived in Aberdeen (but had already left there for onward transport)

It's so close to 73 plate, ask them to register for sept. Would not like to have a 23 plate with so little days of August to go.

I would have a more intense discussion with them. It's a matter of a few days

All I can say is the car is awesome!! Picked it up this morning, and aside from stopping for fuel and dinner, I haven't got out of it all day.

Well I ordered mine 6 days ago and was told Dec, having looked at other vehicles Lexus and Hyndai tuscon decided to cancel they will but have been told they will keep my £500 deposit, the car doesn't exist its just a piece of paper their is no order number and apparently the 14 days cooling down period does not exist on the 2nd most expensive purchase most people will ever make seems odd, anyway see what they come up with before I contact Toyota Gb, any ideas 💡

£500 deposit?! What did you order? I only had to put £100 down to order my Yaris, and it was fully refundable.

AFAIK it is fully refundable. Did you walk in and place the order?

If the order was made online then you are entitle to a full refund no matter what they say. If in person on the dealer's showroom then they can deduct reasonable cost.

I once cancelled an order after 3-4 months and got the 500 deposit back - online order via broker. The dealer I recently got the Yaris from also said deposit not refundable when speaking to them over the phone, should I cancel, I just say fine. I know they couldn't do that with an online order.

The better dealers will usually refund it; My deposit was much higher so I'm glad I didn't have to deal with such a situation! :fear:

I asked my Toyota dealer when I ordered mine if they wanted a deposit, they said “no if for some reason you don’t buy the car lots of buyers will want it”. I have been a regular customer for many years with the dealership.

When I bought both my C-HRs i was asked to put down £99 on each occasion. My wife was asked to put down a £500 deposit on her Yaris. Two different Dealers with different corporate rules in this instance.

Always best to do orders over the phone or online rather than face to face then you are entitled to change your mind within 14 days, entitled to a full refund.

I went through carwow for best price, then visited the dealer to check and raise paperwork, then went away before making final decision then placed order over phone and dealt with paperwork via email.

I went to the dealer had a look around loved the Y C negotiated a deal,   dealer asked if I wanted a test drive and handed me the keys, I have never driven a hybrid before but managed to work it out, no idea what mode I was in but made it over a couple of miles went  back to salesman and signed an order and paid deposit £500 on visa card, which I thought gave me 14 days cooling off period, I have no order number, delivery is expected Dec 23 so car doesn't exist yet, long story short  i was a bit worried about all the technology on the car and whether I could cope with it, so decided to cancel order, I was told yes they will cancel but I will not get my deposit back, and that's where I am at now, thanks Stew

@local hero Which dealer is this?

I think most dealers would give your deposit back within 14 days. Have you signed any paperwork agreeing price, finance etc.  If none of this has been done or not explained properly I am confident you have a good case.  You may even be able to get the money back through your credit card company. Was it debit or credit?

That match's my experience with my local dealer also.

The dealer is premier Toyota in Llandudno they are now part of the Lindop group, I should really have gone to Lindop Wrexham or Queensferry as I have always had great service from Queensferry and of course Kingo is parts manager at Wrexham and has always supported this forum, 👍 Stew

Speak to the head office Stew, fairly sure they’ll give you your money back.  They can withhold a 10% handling fee.

I have read Toyota have been having a lot of issues in the production of cars, I am a little dissapointed of so little info about the new 2024 Yaris and getting a little tired of waiting.

  1. Thanks Don do you mean Lindop head office? I have contacted Toyota Gb for clarification, at the end of the day if the car is  late which it appears it will be I can get my money back, or sure somebody might want to jump the queue nearer the date🤞
