Filled up again and the onboard computer was reading an average of 59.9 mpg over 442 miles and the calculated average is 58.6 mpg , virtually identical to 58.4 mpg we got on the first tankful, similar mix of motorway around 30%  and rest cross country and around town. We both find it a very relaxing car to drive and have got used noise it makes in EV at low speed , which you can only hear with the radio off.

Still very happy with the car which will start to get more miles on it as the wife starts putting some business miles on it. The blind spot indicator is great as is adaptive cruise control but we’re not a fan of the lane assist , at least Toyota installed a button on the steering wheel to be able to deactivate it easily 👍

Please try to update your Android phone, it might help. Keep it updated to latest android version. I suggest also update all apps as well.

With the first hard frost and a light dusting of snow the heated steering wheel and seats on the Excel work great , the one thing I am missing is a heated front screen which I’ve had for many years on several VAG cars. In freezing  weather it really does make a big difference in defrosting and keeping the screen mist free,  its the only thing I wish the C-HR could have.

from what I gather, the fuel consumption should get better as the car breaks in, have you noticed that since the original post was back in July?  And I realize there will a difference between UK and the states, but the concepts should be the same.  We only get the 2.0L engine here in all 3 trims, no hybrid yet.

To be honest the car has not been used much and most journeys have been just a few miles so quite different to when we got the car , plus it’s winter so no real comparison. The car is doing low 50s mpg which for a lot of short journeys is more than acceptable.

I tend to average around 54.3 mpg. This is in a 2.0 with aircon and heaters running as and when necessary, along with lights, radio, heated seats, wipers, etc. I also tend to use the adaptive cruise control on the motorway. I am more than impressed 😀

@AndyRC and @Big_D: I am wondering does your car has space saver wheel or managed to fit one?

No current UK spec C-HR comes with a spare wheel.

It can be retrofitted at extra cost - something I will do once my C-HR arrives.

The 2 litre version is easier / cheaper to retrofit one as the boot floor is already higher.

We have the 2.0 L engine and there is no space for a spare wheel unless you place it in the general boot space.

Same as Andy RC. I have a 2.0. With my previous car I did have the need for an actual spare wheel (a couple of times) and carried one in the boot of my old Vauxhall. With the C-HR I'm hoping the kit will work. I also have AA breakdown cover as well as the Toyota Breakdown cover.

Thanks @AndyRC and @Big_D: Thank you- seems folks in the forum here are saying that it is easy to fit in the 2l version, as the Battery is on one side- so the boot floor does not get raised either.

I'm just going by the advice in this thread & the question I asked later on:

I can't comment on this.

As much as I don't like the tyre repair kit which is fitted as standard, I use the space where the spare tyre would go, to store c**p I need to carry.

1.8 versions have their 12v batteries in the engine bay, so their boot floors carpets are low and below the boot opening and level with the actual boot floor panel, 2.0 have a 12v Battery sat on the boot floor so their carpet floor is high and level with the boot lip.

Adding a spare to the 2.0 is simple, remove the polystyrene boot insert to the left of the 12v Battery and with a few fitting the spare will fit under the boot carpet meaning no alteration the boot space

Adding a spare to a 1.8 involves raising the boot carpet up to the same level as the 2.0 reducing boot space this requires more parts than the 2.0 simply because the 2.0 left the factory with a raised boot floor as standard.

Hi all,

Thanks for your help. In the 2.0 litre C-HR in Excel trim, does the addition of the JBL system reduces any space further in the boot or anywhere else in the vehicle?

Sorry Spo2. Can't help here. I unfortunately don't have the JBL system in mine.

Hi guys,

How is the automatic headlight levelling system in the car? Not sure if there is any need as I find manual adjustment is rather good but it bundled in the trim.

Many thanks,

Sol

To be honest we’ve not driven much at night , or at all , still on less than 4K miles.  The few times we have used it at night lights were fine , no issues.

Automatic headlight leveling is brilliant. I've had no problems with it at all.
