I bought the City Pack and part of it was the prospect that Anchorwoman might find it useful.  She doesn’t, she finds it spooky and the chances of her using it seem to be nil.  However, the pack does have some other benefits that I’m really pleased with like the 360 cameras, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.  I’ve had them before on CX-5s and Lexus’s but glad to have them again.

I stand to be corrected but doesn't Blind Spot and Rear cross traffic come as standard on Excel? They are not part of the city pack, not here in UK anyway.

Quite right Ron.  There are some other bits and pieces but the 360 was the main one. 👍

Yeah! But I think excel has the rear cross traffic alert as I have noticed my car break independently twice while reversing. Also, the kind spot monitoring is standard with excel.

Yes, I agreed above 👍

You get BSM and RCTA with the Smart Connect system too.  RCTA works, sometimes too well.  I have seen a car pass behind me, once clear I start to reverse and it slams the brake on.  The obstructing car is often well clear on my left.

It does not recognise a car moving away from one static or closing.  I guess that is safest.

Just got an email from the dealer. Should be at the dealer early to mid April!

So on track to what they said if not a few weeks late 🔜🏎️

Used prices:  It was inevitible this was always going to happen but I didn't see it happening so soon.

Whilst I still think most of the used prices being asked are high, looking at Autotrader shows prices are defo coming down. Shock horror, I'm seeing dealers now asking 'list price' for brand new cars they have in stock.

The highest price for any new or used Yaris Cross on Autotrader as I write is £33k. Just a few months ago it was almost £40k !  £33k was common for a 2wd Excel. I even saw one rertailer advertise a used 2wd Design for £32k!

Wonder what those customers who paid thousands over new list price for a used car only a few months ago are thinking now?  Worse still, someone who bought their car at those eye-watering prices who now, for whatever reason, want or need to part with it?

If they paid anywhere near those asking prices, I reckon there could be some folk out there who, if they find themselves having to part with their car, may find it's depreciated approaching £10k in only a matter of months. Wow!

Found a great example of this thru Toyota's own used car website

A brand new Design with metallic lists at £27145 from any dealer.

Jemca have a car registered end of Dec 20/12/2022 on 72 plate with 250 miles for £27495

Just up the road, Listers have several 23 plate with 10miles registered only 10 days ago for £23985

Of course you can order a brand new one from another UK dealer thru a broker for £22730 but that's beside the point.

Buy that 22 reg one from Listers and you've already lost £4500 BEFORE it starts to depraciate like the other cars. Well, Lets say nearer £5000 because remember, not only is it a reg plate older, it was also registered in 22 as opposed to 23.

Now here's the really, really weird thing. That same Jemca dealership are advertising brand new Design on Autotrader for £23145 !  🤣  Same garage !!!!

No doubt some mug will buy their £27495 used car.

I have a mate who was told January for an Excel with pan roof but that’s gone out of the options now.  The dealer said we’ve got one coming with a pan roof that we’re not able to demonstrate now.   You can have it next week!!!

incidentally, there’s a new YouTube walk around of a GR somewhere in Europe and it has the JBL option.  What’s going on with TGB?

Hello! 🙂

First post, I've ordered a Yaris Cross Excel via Motorfinity, quoted 8 weeks which having read this thread I am incredibly sceptical of. Car was ordered the 21st March, got a phone call this morning saying there are no mud flaps available for the SUV Pack, if that's the only thing they are short of I can live with that!!

I'll keep you posted 😄

I heard mudflaps were on back order too David.  Where in Derbyshire are you?  There’s a few of us now!

I'm near Alfreton, North East Derbyshire? I moved 'down' here in August of last your midst the renting madness, traditionally from Yorkshire but I needed somewhere quick that fit my needs, well, more accurately fit the dogs needs lol so ended up round here. Looking forward to getting the new car so I can explore a little more, I've lost faith in my current car (Hyundai i30) as she's getting on a bit.

Errggghhh! So fed up. Ordered Yaris Cross Excel with City Pack on April 29th 2022. I was told initially it would be delivered early Jan but everytime I ask (never updated) it's been put back and put back. Now it's May! It's seems to be one thing after another. Is this normal customer service 😖?

I’m not sure what you expect.  Do you want a phone call every week to tell you nothings changed?   The trouble with our entitled culture is that the BBC will have you believe that Boris is responsible for everything but if we could stop being selfish over things like cars, people in China are dying from Covid - yes, they’re being ravaged by it and parts and semi conductors are still in very short supply.  Damn Matt Hancock for that.  Now in answer to your question in a sensible manner, Toyota want paying for the car you’ve ordered and they’ll get it to you as fast as they can.  They try and predict delivery dates as best as possible but then a supplier goes down and things slip.  Not much they can do and it’s frustrating but be patient and it’ll turn up.

Oooh Don.  Karen, even April to January is rather a long time. I was given February to July but that slipped to August.  I seem to remember I got a call from the dealer in May and nothing until after it had arrived at the dealer's.

Using the data tracker online I was able to follow its progress from production in France to delivery to Derby.  At some point I found the car as Purchased on My Garage and using Find My Car could see it in the dealer's pound, when it moved to his workshop, and even being moved whilst there. On the day of handover I tracked to to Sainsbury for a full tank of cheap fuel.

Have you spoken with your dealer for a gentle moan?

At least you will her a 23 plate.

Aye sorry but it frustrates me when somebody comes on all angry about a car not being delivered.   I told mine at the time of ordering, don’t worry about delivery times, I know the score and never once put them under pressure.  There are factories shut down because they can’t get enough workers without Covid.  It’s going to take time to purge through and disgust with the dealer and angry emojis don’t sit well with me.  I wanted JBL but can’t have it (although it’s confusing why other countries are getting it) and now pan roofs have gone.  Hard luck isn’t it.

I do think they could do a lot better with communication tho' - If they become aware of a delay, they should update the customer with an explanation and apology, and not just let the date slip without even informing them and only giving them details when they call up asking what's going on. Pro-active communication is a key part of good customer service.

My dealer was pretty awful communication-wise; Once I'd put down the deposit they become almost impossible to contact - Not checking e-mail, not answering phone, or being told to call back on certain days or times. It was like the customer service roles were reversed! I literally had to drive down there and wait to speak to anyone if I wanted e.g. an update or clarification. The worst part is when *they* wanted something from me (i.e. Bank Details) they were calling me at all hours offering to call back when I wanted etc..

Cyker the problem is the here and now.  The salesman who sold me my first Toyota 'moved on sonewhere'. Now he could have sold me my next car with no trouble.

The young man who sold me the next was pleasant and had personal problems.  When it came to actually completing the deal I got his clone.  Give him his due he is still keen to help.  He just needs to keep this up till next year 😁

Had a checked, the CHR comes with JBL option and 2.9% Apr with a £2k FDA. So it's very selective with limited availability of JBL. Going to look for JBL or other quality Speakers that fit my car when it arrives to DIY.

I thought about a speaker upgrade but the amp should really be done as well.

The thing is I don't know how difficult it is to fit an amp without the knowledge. If you or anyone else knows then it would be great to get an insight. Ideally would like an amp, but if it's beyond me then just speaker upgrade is better than the cheap ones the car comes with.

The JBL amp fits under your seat.  There is one there now but not a high end one.  You’d have to cut into the wires which I’m not keen on although a specialist wouldn’t think twice.   The Speakers are very light but somebody said they have special cone which is only half way inferior to a heavy magnet so not as big an improvement you might expect by changing them.  I don’t know about that but if someone does, please elaborate.   I’ll change them if it’s worth it but I must admit the fitted ones are surprisingly good.
