Yaris Cross - delivery, etc .......

Looking at the above comments - One dealer tells their customer Toyota stipulate 20 days before they can register a car and another dealer tells their customer Toyota stipulate 6 weeks before they can register a car.  Which is true? I'll guess neither simply because dealers work on a bonus system. In other words they make up rules as they go along to fit maximise their profit.

I asked him if it was the cash flow manager saying not allowed - he said if we didn’t take the July delivery then it would be a new order with only £ 300 discount instead of the £ 3,800 we currently have.

That's interesting.  I totally agree with what your dealer has said - at the point of order, you qualified for a particular bonus. The trouble is, a few pages ago, another forum member's dealer told them the bonus they signed at point of order no longer applied ( T&C had changed ) therefore were only able to offer that £300 discount.  I believe that forum member then cancelled his order.

Bottom line, never take anything that comes out the mouth of a salesperson as fact.

Since Feb when we placed the order, we have dealt with 3 different sales(persons). When I said I was thinking of cancelling due to the well reported 12v Battery problem I ended up talking to the Sales Manager. He was really reasonable and helpful (arranged a demo for a week) and as good as admitted some of his sales team were ‘sub optimal’. I met a senior sales guy to do the px deal and was also helpful and knowledgable. It seems you need to escalate up the management chain to talk to people who actually know the product and good customer service.
The whole pre delivery experience when I bought the Lexus was superb - the new salesman was ‘minded’ throughout by the experienced guy who had been promoted.

Ordered a Yaris Cross Excel on the 16th June. MyT app has been showing as “order in process” since but did get a call from the dealer on Thursday to say it should be ready to pick up in a few weeks.. so app not particularly useful or indeed accurate at this point. Dealer stated that turn around has been quicker recently. This will be my first new car and my second Toyota hybrid, current car being an auris business ed from 2016. Nicest car I’ve owned and certainly most economical to date. Hope the new one is at least as good…

I wonder how they mean the turn around is quicker? there are people here still waiting for standard spec cars ordered in Jan/Feb. Are they prioritising the newer orders then.

We ordered a Yaris Excel in Feb and the order said delivery mid Sept. We were told as it was to have a pan roof it wouldn’t be any earlier. My T is still showing the order being processed but told the car will be with them this Fri and available a week Tues.

I asked the sales manager if it was a cancelled order and he checked and said no. Not fussed about the reg as these days cars are updated so often the model years seems more important than the reg plate. With the new MY24 coming later this year I’m sure in a few years all the dealers will be saying the car is worth far less irrespective of the reg plate !  That’s why we got a really good discount !

Just make sure they either pay the extra VED for the last few days before the end of the month, or tell them to to wait until next month before taxing it , unless your OK with loosing a month off the tax.

Yeah good question. I’ve not spoken to the dealer since so keeping an open mind at the moment. As soon as I find out more I’ll post an update. I understand they are ‘waiting for the paperwork’ at the moment - have no further info or indeed a date at the moment. I did have a Toyota car insurance quote through via the dealer though obviously haven’t done anything with it. Quote seemed pretty competitive for what it’s worth

I just kinda stopped anticipating when the email didnt lead to building starting in a week or two 😄 And well, since the dealer upped the ETA from late august to halfway september, I guess no point expecting it any earlier.

Ordered early may.

The app is telling me my car is now at the dealers and asks if I want to activate standard and remote services. Is it ok to do so although I haven't received the car yet? Hoping to collect next week.

Regarding road tax, from my experience the dealer pay the extra week so the whole month isn't lost. Get them to enable the windows function (up/down) with the remote fob, it's not enable automatically from factory.

Just as I was thinking to myself on my morning walk with the dogs "I guess there's no point holding breath for another month for the building to start", I just go the email about it starting!

Ordered: May 2nd
Email and factory updated to tracking: June 26th
Building started: July 18th

Ooh, should be about a month away then if it was anyting like mine! Fingers crossed 😄

Build takes about a week, and then its a waiting game for it to be shipped, PDI Checks and then delivered or picked up.

Got an email this morning saying my car is at the dealers. Called them and they said they expected it tomorrow. My T has gone from order being processed to connect to car in 1 day !

Wonder if that was someone else's cancelled car or something just went wonky with your tracking?

Wee. It's now done building. Now to see when it starts it's journey and which ship it actually gets on board of. That seems to be the place with most variance. If it happens to miss a boat just as it leaves, it seems to take rather long before the next one leaves.

Ordered: May 2nd
Email and factory updated to tracking: June 26th
Building started: July 18th
Building finished: July 20th

In other news, those of you that use wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and also wireless charging, have you had any (phone) overheating related problems/disconnects?

The centre console aircon/fans have a shelf just in front of them, when I first got the car I didn't really realise this as their part hidden under the media nav. So when I picked my phone up from the little shelf it was freezing cold. Mine was notorious for overheating when using it as a GPS in my old car sat in the window (Sony Xperia), but with android auto, the screen doesn't need to be on and with the fan placement, I don't think I will have any issues 😄

Just that the wireless charging part (if you have one) isnt on that shelf but in the space under the climate controls, so the vents wont help it cool down when its both charging and doing Android auto 😄 I suppose some phones might actually heat up from that too much, as they both tend to make phones run quite hot even seperately.

My current phone doesnt have wireless charging, but will likely get one that does next, as the car will be supporting wireless android auto and the wireless charging, so rather not mess with cables at all if not necessary

Congrats, my tracking has been stuck in processing order since early June. The dealer originally said the end of July to August, but they told me to expect early September a few days ago. Really hope it comes sooner, it's quite bothering not having access to a car.

Still can't stop myself from checking the app daily hoping for progress.

Car in Derbyshire since June 17th, My previous car arrived at the dealership in Northern Ireland within 14 days of arrival in Derbyshire. It's been more than a month now.

I have only 2 years to run on my current contract, is this why Toyota called me to discuss my options?

😁

I mentioned earlier that the call this year is 2.7 years before end of contract for delivery in 8 months time!

The car now shows in MyT as purchased.  Can anyone point me towards the data mining on the Toyota Forum.  I have found the order on Chrome and used F12 to open out the data.  What is the next step?

Hello!

I am new to the community but I have been following this thread for a while now. I ordered my new Yaris Cross Excel JBL on the 24th of August at the dealership with the promise that this was part of a call-off order so it was meant to arrive on the 29th of September. Well, it didn't, and because my sales rep went off a month ago nobody was even updating me, so that was particularly upsetting. I am here to give out some hope because dates can vary a lot. I kept calling the dealership in the past weeks to try to get somebody to get ahold of my order but the only response I got was "your car is estimated to arrive in November". Well! To my great pleasure this was delivered yesterday morning to the dealership, so we could say about 2 weeks of delay from the original ETA.

To all of you that are eager to know all about your car's progress, I hope I can provide some very helpful information. First, this is the timeline of my order:

Second, the web Toyota order tracker holds more information under the hood, and it appears to be more up to date than the dealership too (unless it was my dealership out of date). This shows all the estimated dates of "left location" and "estimated arrival" of each intermediary step. I can also confirm that the dates shown are very estimated (especially the final estimated date of delivery, which once showed the end of December for me) and they update/become more accurate as you get closer to the date reported, or a step has been completed.

How do I view this information, you may ask? Well, that's the tricky bit! It requires a bit of tinkering and a sprinkle of tech savviness. I'll try to make this as clear and easy as I can.

  1. Open your order tracker page on the Toyota website from a computer
  2. Take note of your full order number, you can view this from the full link of the webpage which looks like this:
    https://www.toyota.co.uk/apps/customerportal#/purchasedCars/999999999999999XX9999999

Your order number is the one at the very end and should appear like the 9999.... I put instead of my own.

  3. Now you need to open the developer tools. You can do this by right-clicking anywhere in the page and select "Inspect element" or simply "Inspect". This should now open a new box/window.

  4. On the top side of this new box/window, you need to click on the Network tab.

  5. With everything left as it is, refresh the page, so the developer tools can collect all the network data from the page.

  6. As the pages refreshes and your order loads, the developer tools should start showing a list of entries. You need to find and click on the one that has the same name as your order number (which we took in step 2).

  7. This should now show a new box, usually on the right hand side. You want to click on the Preview tab which should be on the top side.

  8. Last step, explore all the data that shows in the Preview tab. This is where you'll find all the "hidden" information!

I hope this will relieve many of you from the terror of the long wait!!

And for the curious, here is a picture of my new Yaris Cross:

Feel free to ask me any questions!

Wish you all to get your new car sooner than expected!!

Luca

Have the dev tools open before you open the order. Then from the dev tools select Network (for me it whos Elements Console Sources and then >>, when you press from the arrows you can select network). Search for your order number. You'll get 2 hits, one of them contains the info when you select "Preview" instead of "Headers that is default"

Since im not from the UK, my car is going from Zeebrugge to Malmö (Sweden) and onwards here to Finland. Yesterday there was a car carrier unloading in Malmö that is known to ship toyotas around. But nothing new in tracking yet.

I almost crapped myself when I read about a car transporting ship around the same sea catching fire when an electric car had ignited. But it was a different ship/different route than mine

My X will be ready to collect next week. The dealer said it is sitting in Derbyshire long for installing the SUV pack.

Good job ot wasn't being shipped put today.  Car carrier with 2 000 cars on board.   Did I hear that an EV had caught fire?

Edit: Almost 3,000 cars but from Bremerhaven to Egypt so probably lots of BMW.  Sadly one dead and several injured.

EV certainly has some way to go to reach petrol levels of safety.
