Not familar with this particular model of Alarm, but on a mid 90's Toyota factory fitted alarm several things can cause this:

Find the alarm and check all the wiring into the alarm unit is not loose.

ON some alarms, heat from the engine makes the snug fitting of wiring blocks to

the alarm unit looser.

If some of the wiring is loose, disarming doesn't always work.

Some alarms have sensitivity adjustment, if you have replaced your car Battery recently, this may need altering.

Many alarms do not actually arm for maybe 30secs to 2 minutes after "plipping".

Is the time interval the same each time?

Check the Battery in the arming key is working. (ie Try the spare unit if you have one).

Normally the manual that comes with the alarm, gives step by step guidance on what may wrong (Troubleshooting page) have you tried this? (Check internet also for manuals)

If all these things are OK, then it could be an internal fault OR a wiring break. Best to go to an auto-electrician, not sure if every Toyota dealer has alarm specialist (mine doesn't!).

have replaced the batteries in both remotes, and the manual for the alarm consists of a couple of pages in owners manual telling me how great the alarm's features are!.

I've tried to find out were the alarm unit is situated, from the dealer, but understandably they are reluctant to help.I tried the local auto electrician,he wont touch it without wiring diagram.Ialso tried locking the doors with the key and not using the remote button, thinking this would not arm alarm.....still went off!!!.Starting to look like Toyota will get more money out of me.

thanx for your feedback anyway.

Glad its sorted!

Although sounds a bit weird, Knackered siren.

I'd thought the siren would go silent if it failed.....then again who knows

what combination of relays and electronics are connected to it.....

I suspect this part of it failed as the siren was clearly audible!
