Hi everyone,

Going on my first long trip (736 km or 457 miles) with my 1.8 corolla. For anyone that has done a long trip drive with their corolla does using the eco mode make a difference when going at a steady speed? Propably going to stay at a relaxed 110 kmh or 68 mph with cruise control active.

I drove nearly 700 miles (1,126 km) round-trip Newbury-Carlisle-Newbury this past weekend.

Outward journey: mostly (90%) M40/M42/M6 motorways - very heavy traffic for almost the entire journey, a lot of stop/start driving across all 3 or 4 motorway lanes for long periods and distances. Where the roads were relatively clear, I had my foot down on speed. The trip included three refreshment stops so MyT sees the whole trip as three individual journeys. Averaging the three, MyT says - 39 mph, 53.6 mpg, 42% EV time.

Return journey: about 50% on A6 and various B roads through the Lake District to Lancaster, plus 50% on the same motorways towards home. Smoother speeds on non-motorway, used cruise control more on motorways that were relatively uncongested compared to the outward journey. Quite a lot of stops - six in total, mostly in the Lake District - so MyT sees 6 trips. Averaging these, MyT says - 41 mph, 61.8 mpg, 40% EV time.

For both journeys, the car used E10 petrol. And I drove it the entire journey in Normal drive mode as I usually do (although in the Lake District I made great use of B mode on some very steep hill roads).

I've not analysed this further but I'm quite happy with the overall numbers in comparison with my prior non-hybrid cars.
