I have done more DIY work on other friends and family cars in recent years, than my Avensis.

Apart from usual checks and general servicing, I have hardly touched my car recently. Last year, I did the waterpump and belt, plus Battery change last year. This year I replaced the LED sidelight bulbs, as one went dim. Now have longlife bulbs in place. I have done more work on my brothers cars, both after failing MOT's. His Renault Grand Scenic failed on front suspension, broken spring on one side, with rubber top mount beginning to split, leaking shock on the other side. I did the work with my brothers assistance. The Nissan Micra failed due to unsecure right headlamp, caused by mounting points from a previous crash damage and bad repair. I replaced both since they were very dull and the usual licence plate bulb. Both cars passed the MOT and I did oil and filters service on the Micra. Over the weekend I had to replace the new suspension top mount my brother bought from Euro Car Parts, because the rubber split after only 2 months! He couldn't find the receipt, but I ordered one from eBay, and it was of better quality. When my brother went on the ECP site, they no longer listed that part, so I suspect they were faulty. I did have suspicions when installing the component and it did fail causing a knocking noise. The other job I did was last year, on a friends Honda Jazz, changing a noisy pulley. It had very limited, but long aviation spanners are great for that.
I know some other forum members have other cars, so probably work on them too.
