Hi there,

I hope someone may be able to help..

A friend of mine went to see a Gt4 today and ended up leaving the chap a cheque to buy it..

I asked him about the car and he says that the maximum boost the car produced was 1 on the boost guage.

As I understand it the guage goes from -4 to 0 to 8..

He said the maximum boost the guage went to was just past 0 - or where 1 would be if it was printed on the guage....

This doesnt seem right to me..

My mate isnt too good with cars and invariably buys the first one that he sees..

He reckons it 'drives like new' but I will wait and see

If you could help with the question that would be great..

Also the flexi pipe at the front of the exhaust is blowing..

The chap he's buying the car off of sayes he's been quoted £50 to replace - not sure on this one either..

Thanks in advance.

it depends on what the guage reads in but the service specs are:-

turbo charging pressure

0.50-0.83kg/cm2(7.1-11.8psi(49-81kpa))

if the guage reads in bar the 1 bar is a bit more than std look to see if a bleed valve has been fitted to the turbo

£50 for a flexi seems cheap ask for name of supplier and phone around for prices

  • 2 weeks later...

It should boost to almost the maximum (6 or 7) on the gauge. I have owned a Celica GT4 for 2 yrs now and that is what mine read before I had it chipped and now it goes off the scale.

As for the flexipipe, if it's part of the front section you can get a custom made replacement from Powerflow for approx £50.
