hi i am rebuilding, well building my paseo engine as i brought it in bits, replacing the piston rings crank shells and berings etc but need to know torque settings and timing marks is there any books or any sites that can help, toyota want £50 for an engine cd,

hi,you might get the some of the torque settings in the autodata books,as for the timing ther should be 2 marks on the engine one at the crank pully and the other is a hole on the cam pully u need to line up with a mark on the head.

In the pinned topics in this forum there is a link to the 5EFE engine manual online.

One of the files (can't remember which one) has every gap, mark and torque setting in it.

if its anything like the 4efe which i would assume it is,

timing is set by rotating the alternator pulley until the little notch lines up with 0degrees on the block, then make sure the camshaft pulley (which has a hole in it) lines up with the punched mark on the head that is nearest the front of the car. I say this because there are two punched marks, the one nearest the front of the car is exhaust the other is intake.
