Cruise control ... I must be an idiot?

It's even the wiper stalk movement.  Almost all the cars I've had you move the stalk up.  In the RAV you move it down.  Still takes me a second to think about it.

It's surprising how you get used to things.  All previous Toyotas and Lexus I've driven had a stalk for controlling the Cruise Control.  It took me ages to get used to the buttons (which controlled the various displays on the speedo screen in my last... (sorry)).

When I had my 2nd annual service recently, my service manager lent me his 21 plate C-HR for the day (because he knows I don't like doing gears, plus he's a great guy) and it still has the stalk.  Despite 2 years and 16k miles using the buttons in the RAV, I felt at home with the stalk immediately.  It then took me a week to be 'at home' with the buttons again!

Oddly, the C-HR ACC changed 1 mph at a time instead of 5 when using the Plus & Minus function too.

I suspect that must have been an 'old' C-HR - my wife's 21 plate CH-R has the buttons on the steering wheel (but different to the RAV4) and increments in 5s when using DRCC. I'm a stalk-man myself but times change ...

It's always particularly difficult when you transition from another car especially if the layouts are similar but then they radically change a function of a stalk or button. Coming from the Subaru XV which in some areas is identical, I struggle some days particularly if I'm having to react quickly. I'll get used to this car and it will be time to change and it starts all over again. I think I'd prefer what we have in the RAV4 than some of the digital central multifunction touch screens I think I'd find that very distracting.

Agree with that Ernie. I just think mixing up safety involved controls with multimedia is a no no in any vehicle.
