Jerking before acceleration

Hi I'm new to this forum and this is my first car. My Toyota Yaris 2008 jerks each time before acceleration. I bought the car six months now, and I wasn't driving it much for like four months. And after the MOT and  full service in August 2021, I discovered the jerky nature as then I started paying more attention. Does anyone have this problem and how was it resolved? Thanks

Hi, welcome to TOC.

Some more information would help others to help you - let's start with what engine & transmission?

Do you mean like there is a hesitation/lag before it accelerates, or when you press the accelerator the car kangaroos, like you sometimes see learners who're just being taught clutch control do?

It jerks or stutters as if I'm changing gear. As if it's sensitive and shakes the car a bit, but only on the first press on the gas.

And like other automatic, is my Yaris supposed to creep when I switch on the engine, before pressing the gas?

The mmt gearboxes don't creep either the clutch is worn or there is an issue with the clutch actuator, sometimes you can get away with a slight adjustment

It's a known issue

Don't they??? I swear they do...! As in if you have it in drive and let go of the brake, the car does start moving on idle doesn't it??

Not Drive but E in Yaris. Thanks everyone for your response. I would appreciate further information.

You can do cleaning throttle body gently. But I guess it is MMT issues, you can just drive it and visit mechanics who are familiar with MMT.  Toyota abandoned  MMT in Yaris and larger cars and prefer CVT or 8 speed torque converter that needs no regular repair.  Only fluid every 60k miles
