Need Newb Help

please help... I am a newb to toyota and a newb to this forum.

I have a celica GT that I recently lost all the oil and blew the engine due improper instalation of oil filter by econo lube...

please tell me what the difference is between the GT and GT-S engine.

I understand they are both 1.8L's but what does this VVt-I/VVt-LI do/mean, and how does it differ? is it just a difference in the head similar to honda and V-tec or what?

I am strongly considering a rebuild of this engine and then installing the blitz SC kit... is there an good rebuild kits out there?

sorry for the newb question and lack of searching, but all positive responses are greatly appreciate...

I am not the most technically minded here but i maybe able to answer a few questions.

As i understand it the generation 7 celica came in 2 models the 190 and 140 (probably somone will correct me)and both were 1.8l. The difference is vvt-i stands for Variable Valve Timing Injection/intelligence ( not too sure on what the I stands for) The vvt-li stands for the same but with Lift - something to do with a third cam (dont ask me how it works) ( again i'm not too sure on what the I stands for). So thats the difference

To recap

vvti = 140bhp

vvtli = 190bhp

Hence the model names

probably someone will post saying that thats a load of bull**** and correct me , but atleast you will find out :D

I thought the GT-S model was 180hp. but that is beside the point.

now is it just a head that may be swapped out on the GT motor from the GT-S motor (like most do with hondas)... will that work???

I know I need more info, but I am really tired right now. I have been working all night and am about to go home...

thanxz for the welcomes. and help... :)
