Second Key Cut For My Just-acquired Celica

How would I go about getting another key cut if the key itself is full of important bits and pieces like deactivation of the immobiliser- so a straight duplicate won't work?

Apologies if this post has cropped up before. Newbie trying to get system to work.

Hi. Welcome to TOC :D

I`m afraid you will have to visit Mr T (Toyota main dealer)

They will be able, via chassis number etc to get you a duplicate. Can't tell you how much this will cost for a Toyota. But for a F*rd Tr@nsit it cost £28 + the dreaded VAT. Took 4 days to get it too.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Dak

I read about this in my handbook (or hannes manual) a year ago and it said that unless u had the key number that the whole ignition would have to be changed!

Hi guys, thanks for the replies! :D

Phoned Toyota this morning and gave them the VIN of the car. Turns out it is a Jap import- depite me being sold it under the impression it was an NI import. Hmm.

You are right about the whole ignition having to be changed Wizard, apparently this is deeply pricy.

I don't have the code/number for the key. Is there any way of contacting someone in Japan to get it or am I dreaming of the impossible? Should I just be vvv careful with the one key I do have?!!

Cheers for now

Kris

if you take out a door lock the numbers are stamped on it.

Hi I had a 1996 Toyota RAV4 UK Model the key number written in the service book was 13754, but the number on the door lock were as follows 3130 stamped on lock, Raised number L-2006, N66 of 99N stamped and 2046 stamped, none of these tallied with the service book written down number and the door lock had not been changed any ideas? I'm confused. My current RAV4 1998 does not have the key number written down and when I looked at the tailgate lock the only stamped number is 768-0 regards Rich :(

I know 2 people who lost keys to a Avensis (s ?). No spare. Mr T Ireland quoted them both €2000. Apparently have to change locks, barrel etc etc. Thought it was poo but happened to 2 people so might be true.

Hi, i've been told (here we go!) that the key blades can be put into any Toyota key fob and then just re-program the key fob.

I bought another key off eBay and when i get chance i'm hoping to get another key cut off my origional (only got 1), put that blade into this fob i,ve bought and try to program it to my car. Will post how i get on later when got key cut.
