2011-2015 Yaris Catalytic converter theft?

Hey

Just wondering if people would be interested in taking cats from these cars? It's quite an issue with hybrids but I imagine it isn't an issue with these non hybrids and therefore I don't need a catloc / tilt alarm sensor?

On the hybrid Yaris, the cat isn't easy to steal as it's up in the engine bay as part of the manifold.

The cat is up between the block and firewall, there has been a few cars that have had the secondary/resonator taken what's not worth a toss, so very limted numbers

TBH no matter the car, if it's low-hanging fruit, it's going to be a target

Thanks. Given I'm barely using my car, I'm looking at getting an older non hybrid, albeit with relatively low emissions so I don't have to pay so much tax

Hi, older Yaris registered before April 2017 has £0 tax I believe. Thieves are stealing from everything that has a Toyota Badge and more likely a hybrid emblems, you can mask your car with badges removed and it will look as standard Yaris so less attractive to thieves, which some of them are so dumb that they will cut and take even middle silencer.., I have done that on my Auris after I had seen a ph driver done same on his Auris taxi car, well masked IMO. Now nobody recognise my car as hybrid even garage when I go for an mot test until the technician gets in and I always watch his surprised expression . Can you tell which one is the hybrid on the picture below?

a. The Auris

b. The Yaris

c. Both

d. Non of the cars 🤣👌

A secondary cat that's not monitored (has no sensors)

I'm guessing it's both?

The ones I'm looking at cost around £30/year to tax which is reasonable

Oops, sorry about the tax I thought you were looking at hybrids only. 🔋

I might have done if I drove a lot more tbh. Regular cars aren't as expensive

It does also appear that a new cat is cheaper than a catloc

That's a mk2 cat/exhaust, mk3 1.33 exhaust looks something like this

http://www.euroflo.co.uk/Catalogue/Toyota/Yaris/EuroFlo Exhaust Systems.aspx

the secondary cat is more vulnerable

So a BM92279H instead?

How would you protect the secondary cat?
