Heat shield loose

Hi all, quick question.

the heat shield has worked itself loose on my 2012 Auris (series 1).  It is going to the dealer soon for a service.

is it worth getting the heat shield sorted at the same time or getting it done separately at a local exhaust specialist? (I have one I can pretty much see from my house)

anyone with recent experience of heat shield replacement costs?

thanks 🙂

Depends how "loose" and if any actual damage has occurred.....these are often simply fixed by the use of a penny washer to re-attach.

We don’t think it’s damaged, is it better to get the local place to reattach?

I done myself that job on two auris with larger washers, easy job done if you prepared to squeeze under the car. You can ask Toyota but it will be the part change not a diy or local garage solution.

You're overthinking it.

I once glued my heat shield back to the bodywork using a mix of mamut glue and sawdust, that thing held like a champ, and it was rubbery/flexible, so no issues.

It held fine for some 3 yrs, then i sold the car.

Or just do as other people here, unscrew original screws, make big washers out of aluminium cans, screw back, problem solved.
