White Door Hinge Lubricant !!!

I notice EVERY time I wash the Rav, I see the crap white door hinge Lubricant that the dealer's put on them when servicing it.  My Rav is white, so it must look awful on a dark coloured car !! They really don't even bother to aim it at the hinges, it's everywhere....from now on I am doing this part myself and will inform the dealer to leave them alone.

So I intend cleaning all this gunk off.

Can someone tell me what is good to use for this without damaging paintwork etc and also what is best to use in its place ? Preferably something that does the job, but I can't see it !!

the service guys have just gone overboard wipe off the excess there is no need for all that much it’s serving no purpose.

Tip:

If you use the white spray grease lubricant, just spray a little and then spray with WD40.  It contains a solvent which dissolves the grease and allows it to flow into all the nooks and crannies in the lubricated parts, and then evaporates, leaving the parts very thoroughly lubricated.

It also removes the unsightly white colour.
