2000 Toyota Corolla E11 Petrol Auto 1.6 Liftback (tuning box)

Hello all Can anyone tell me if it's possible to connect a 'under the bonnet tuning box' to a 2000 plate corolla petrol automatic 1.6 liftback, does one exist ? Has anyone on here got any tips or tuned their cars for better MPG fuel consumption? I've seen the OBD2 plug in type on eBay, which after much research, don't work. It's not to increase the BHP, its more about improving the MPG fuel economy. I'm not interested in the REMAPPING route. More of the external tuning box. Thanks for reading.
