Corolla E11 (2000) After Market Car Radio Replacement Facia Part

Hello all I know if you remove the standard tape player an aftermarket car radio can be fitted in this E11 Corolla (2000 plate). However is it possible to remove the top main digital inbuilt stereo and replace it with an adpater plate of some sort. I found a picture of a similar facia plate with aftermarket radio fitted. Can anyone advise best route to take? Is it possible to modify, remove the inbuilt radio from its housing in anyway? Thanks for reading.
