Ok, it's partly my fault because I was alittle tired, but went through some stupid roadworks where there was no warning of a ramp then all of a sudden had to brake hard because this weird kerb like speed bump was in front, it looked really strange, it seemed like a really high kerb , twice as high as a normal kerb , it's was crazy lol

Hi Mike,

sorry to hear that happened to you, we all make miss sometimes. Usually Toyota Auris has a strong suspension similar to bigger sister RAV4 and therefore it had to be a serious impact to cause damage to the suspension or frame. If you worry about it my advice is to take the car to a suspension specialist to check undercarriage, frame and suspension plus to run an alignment check and adjustment if necessary. Usual signs for suspension damage are off set steering wheel while drive straight ahead, pulling to the side, damage to the wheels and tyres, excessive noise and or knocking while driving over speed bumps or potholes.
Important note to check:  smell or signs of transmission fluid or engine oil! Sometimes going over things like that can cause small cracks to the transmission housing or engine and lost of oil and serious damage to them. This is to be checked first.
Once I hit a bad road edge and cut my tyre and buckled the wheel a bit but luckily suspension was ok. Make sure you visit a good garage as the one I visited after my incident had messed my alignment instead of a help. Needed to go to another place to sort it out. Good luck and hopefully there is no serious problems. 👍

If it was bad you could go back and take photographs of the offending part of the road, plus any road warning signs (or lack of them) and report to local council. You may find damage has been done only in the future, so what caused it may have been repaired so you need proof if a claim involved.

Hi,

these are never a stupid question. Friend of mine went over a traffic island at speed on leaving a motorway and asked me the same. I advised her to get her car checked in a garage but she said that there was absolutely nothing broken and she had done a visual inspection. She continue to use her car and after two weeks the car has stoped, seized cvt transmission due to no oil inside, after investigation the technician had discovered a cracks in transmission case and oil was going out from there while the car is in motion , no oil leak when stationary. The car gone as write off and was only a 2 years old jazz. Don't want to stress but proper look under the car for your peace of mind will be a good idea. 👍
