T27 rear window demister not working

Has anybody experienced the rear window demister not working on a T27 tourer please? The fuse (DEF) is ok, and the wing mirror heaters are working (which are on the same circuit), so it looks like it's the demister that is broken - and therefore probably its wiring or connectors. Although I have only had the car a couple of months and it has Toyota Plus and Relax warranties, I would like to have a little look myself in case there is an easy fix and I don't have to leave it with a dealer for a day or two. As with all modern cars of course, there is plastic trim surrounding the rear window - are there instructions anywhere on how to remove it without breaking it please?

If I were you I wouldn’t touch it and take it to the dealership, because anything you do could invalidate the warranties.

I agree with Bernard Foy, but if the trim is removed and put back carefully without looking disturbed, using suitable trim tools. Then basic electrical checks can be done. Anyway I have had to put right my rear seat and seat belt, after it went in for the fuel suction recall. So nobody including the dealers are perfect!

I have not had the need to remove the inner panels, but going by my experience from my previous car, remove any screws normal embedded in the grab handles, the with the trim tool or similar, pop the panel clips.

Thanks both, and you are of course both correct to say that I should take if to a dealer to fix under warranty. I will do that, because I'm certainly no expert in faffing with trim clips and I suspect I'll break things trying to get them apart.

Just to follow up on this, my local dealer replaced the rear screen under warranty. It took Toyota a day or two to approve the warranty claim, which was a relief given the cost was over £500.

I took the opportunity to have front and rear dashcams fitted - it seems most dealers offer this for £250 (front only) and £350 (front and rear). I'm very pleased with the results - the captured quality is excellent and the units small and discrete (Nextbase 380GWX).
