Alarm system - retrofit

Has anyone managed to install an alarm system to a mk3? Whether it be aftermarket or OEM - would be good to know who’s fitted one and which one.

With thefts at an all time high, would rather have one fitted tbh.

iirc the dealer fit is Cobra, A Cat 2-1 Plip alarm will do, it's a straight forward install

Thanks. Is it connection into existing plugs in car or is there some splicing to do?

Usually it's spliced into the car either with Open crimps or soldered

it depends on what your budget is a Cobra A4615 is £120-150 - Thatcham approved installation with cert is £300-£350 all in

A Tech sheet will give you the locations and wire colours for the alarm

 

The Toyota VSS1 is part number PZ464-D0130-B0 and is arm and a leg
