I think you will be right, they live in Gorthleck having moved from Edinburgh about 25 years ago, and we have been in the shop too so may have unknowingly met.

They will definitely know my colleague who lived in Gorthleck until only a couple of years ago when he moved out of the family home when he got married.

As you say sometimes it is destiny, we went looking for our 107, we spotted a year old one on the forecourt, had test drive, said ok, only to be told it sold, what a bunch of !!!!, but never considered new, but due to timing and discounts we got a brand new one for less than that year old one.

Also, bit like you, went to dealership for some spare parts, spotted a car on their forecourt, good spec and right colour, the price looked too good to be true, they checked and confirmed the price, so bought it. That was the easy part, the payment and collection process was a comedy of errors on their side, but thankfully the car was spot on.

Sure you will do what is right for you, as they say life is too short, that was bit of my thinking for the above, best of luck whatever you decide.

The first new car I bought was a VW Polo in 1984. Went to buy an ex demo and realised we could buy new for less ££ due in part to the VW finance deal.

Just before quarter end is always the best time to do a deal - might not be the same offer in October as it is a new quarter. Dealers benefit from bonuses for targets achieved in the quarter - they don't get discounts. If close to not meeting the target, selling at cost could be quite a winner for them and well worth it.

Exactly why I timed my decision as I did! Having said that the deal will not drop until January so cash will not arrive until then.

Whoop! Whoop! Sorted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Popped in to see the salesman this afternoon and thanked him for his time but as per my previous four purchases I would be heading to the central belt for the better deal!

Upshot was an extra £500 for p/ex and a Dash Cam FOC (retail £250). OK says I, but it will be October because the rear bumper won't be changed until next week.

Ah, brakes on!! Let's have another look at it. How much is your excess? £400 says I, how about I take the car as is but deduct £200 and that means a saving to you of £200 on your excess.

Being Covid compliant I couldn't rip his arm off but went for the elbow bump.

Asked for the workshop to enable remote window opening/closing, sat nav maps updated to latest spec and Battery fully charged. let him get a bit of profit back by adding paint protection and taking GAP insurance.

Collect Thursday 1pm with private plates fitted.

Well chuffed.

Nice one! I had a dealer belatedly follow up an enquiry today claiming they have a Dynamic Premium available now. However he said tow bar on a PHEV has to be factory order so not sure if that is true.

Prices are weird.  If you look on Listers site at the ex demo cars they are more expensive than the equivalent new one.

That applies to many dealers and brands. Until Saturday the Tiguan PHEV was still on the shortlist and noted some VW dealers want as much for demonstrators as new.
