Fastest you’ve ever gone in REVERSE 😳

Here’s one for you HSD and automatic owners / drivers:

Last month, on holiday I got a chance to drive my car on a disused airfield, so I did. Having owned an automatic before (a Hyundai) I am familiar with how fast they are capable of going in reverse. So, curiosity got the better of me, and at the end of the empty airfield tarmac runway, I put my 2016 Auris Excel Hybrid hatchback into reverse and pressed the accelerator and watched the digital speedo increase. I bottled it at 32mph 😳 but it could have gone LOTS faster. It’s pretty hairy going that fast backwards. With discs all round though, it stopped impressively quickly too 👍🏻

So, what’s the fastest you’ve ever been in reverse in your Toyota?

Haha , I think you are limited to some speed in reverse because of the Toyota hybrid drive train and most likely you had reached that but not sure. I never tried anything like that 👍

That's something I have never tried, don't tend to reverse any distance.

Not sure what magic happens in the hybrid system that gives you reverse, since there isn't any gear box, not even any belts or cones.
