This this sound normal? (Rav4 hyrid brakes)

Hi folks,

I bought a 2018 Rav4 hybrid 10 days ago. Overall very happy with it and getting used to different sounds (some of which are referenced in reviews).

But yesterday I started noticing a sound from the brakes and now it's all I can hear when driving it. I'm not sure if it was there from the start, and i'm only just noticing it, or if something has changed. It's not from 'slowing down' - it only happens when the car is brought to a halt. A loud clicking sound that's followed by a mechanism (which I imagine is the regen brakes). I got the mrs to take a video from the passenger seat - it seems to be coming from the front left of the car mainly. https://streamable.com/027dy3

Is this normal or is there an issue? The dealer is a good two hours drive away and I don't want to get there and be told that's totally normal for this kind of car.

Hi.....just coming to the end of a 3 year period of hybrid ownership.

No clicking sound as in your video when on the move.

However do recognise that click, always a few seconds after parking up & switched off.

Swapping for my 5th Rav. a PHEV soon.

Is the click the automatic parking brake?

Thanks, lads. I suppose it’s got me worried because the only other person I know with one says their 2017 RAV4 hybrid doesn’t make such a noise. 
 

it only happens when I come to an almost stop so I suppose it could be a handbrake or the mechanism to stop the car rolling backwards or something.

I really wish I’d paid more attention previously cos it’s now sticking out and I really notice. She driving perfectly apart from that. The dealer put new brake pads on as part of the sale service and I was wondering if there was an issue there (I bought the car off a non Toyota main dealer).

Previous RAV was a 4.4 hybrid and didn’t make a sound like that when slowing down.
