PHEV - Charge Cable Car Connection Protection

@Lawnmowerman, you mentioned in your recent post the size of the plug in flap, that's something I'd agree about. But I keep my car on the drive so I'm now looking to see if I can buy/make a cover that will go over plug/door to keep the rain/frost/snow off it so that it does not become a frozen attachment?  Anyone any ideas, I've seen some advertised but none that are a designed fit for the Toyota.

Mornin' .......good point, that plug flap is huge but robust & well engineered.

Frustrated first hook up yesterday starting with search for release button, expected similar to the filler cap within the cabin.

Eventually plugged in to outdoor on site pedestal for a 2 hour charge; it was raining at the time.

Crossed my mind that the released flap exposed a large cavity open to the elements.

Hence my interest in feedback re protection with the flap open, a similar problem.

@Broadway One, the covers I've found so far consist of a rain proof tube with a magnetic strip in the end that seats against the car and a draw string around the other end which covers the cable.  Looks potentially OK but there is the problem of the large door to resolve.  Most of the ones I've seen appear to be smaller than would comfortably fit over the charger plug door which I can not see would be of much good, better than nothing but not ideal, I'll keep looking.  Most are designed for pure EV or car designs with much smaller access doors (which seems to be the majority of other makes)

You wonder why it wasn't the same size as the fuel filler flap.

Totally agree with that and many other  manufactures have the flap at the top so that gives some environmental and physical protection.

Evening all......thinking of hanging a base ball cap on the flap at next hook up as a trial.
