2020 New Yaris Launch Edition - Rear Cross Traffic Alert with automatic braking (RCTB)

Yeah, I thought it would be very useful, esp. given the abysmal rear visibility in the new Yaris.

However, in the real world, I've found it to be not as helpful as I'd hoped - It has too many false positives and will actually override driver input and brake until it thinks it's safe again if you ignore it. I usually reverse into a bay, but the few times I've gone front in and then reversed out it's just beeped at me constantly making me think there's a car/pedestrian/cycle/trolley/pigeon coming when there isn't (But, to be fair, also when there is) and I end up spending 4x longer getting out of the bay because it keeps scaring me. Also, I have had a couple occasions when reversing round a corner when it seems to have triggered due to parked cars or god knows what and not let me reverse for a few very long seconds leaving me stranded half in and out of a side-road.

To be fair, in all cases, it may well be there was something there I couldn't see (Again due to the absolutely awful rear visibility in the Mk4) but alas I have no way of knowing.

I think these devices really need to display or give distance and direction to the obstacle it thinks you're about to hit instead of just giving a really unhelpful beep which is indistinguishable from all the other unhelpful beeps.

As it is now, TBH, you're not missing much.
