1.4 D4D DPF ?

Hello All

For anyone that maybe interested in figuring out whether their 1.4 D4D has a DPF fitted or not

Generally speaking engines around 2007 - 2010 that are 5 speed do not have a DPF and 6 speeds 2009+ do,

I have been informed that their are some earlier 6 speeds that got lucky but I have yet to see one without a DPF

An easy way to tell is to look at the engine cover as the DPF models have the oil dipstick positioned going through this plastic cover as opposed to the non DPF model where the dipstick is outside of this plastic cover altogether

I had a 6 speed 59 plate diesel Yaris and it did not have DPF (fortunately), loved the car.

Diesel Particulate Filter, is a filter in the exhaust system of diesel car. It is to filter out of diet exhaust emissions dirty contaminants. In time thee particles can block a DPF filter adversely, particularly if the car is used on short journeys around towns. That is why if you buy a diesel it is used extensively for longer journeys, and not as a “shopper” or short run vehicle.

Thank you Sir for your reply and for educating me on the subject of DPF's.

I actually own a 2008 Toyota Corolla Linea Terra D4D 1.4 Turbo Diesel car which has a five speed gearbox and I am now safe to assume that it does not have a DPF fitted on the exhaust system, thankfully.

I can tell you that the 2008 Toyota Corolla D4D I am driving is a really good car which has plenty of raw power and I certainly do drive it on, as any modern turbo diesel engine should be driven, to prevent the build up of carbon in the engine and exhaust system.
