Brake disc and pads recommendations?

Hello,

I have a 2009 Avensis, my brake pads and discs are pretty worn and I’m in need of new ones.

I’ve had a look at EuroCarParts, but their prices are extortion compared to AUTODOC and other places.

On my old car I always used Bosch and was pretty happy with them.

Any recommendations? Thoughts on Brembo?

Hi,

brake discs any you like, perhaps some with a good coating against rust, for the pads I use EBC Ultimax series, these are as good as oem or even better, they have a nice biting feel and makes the brakes sharp and responsive. 👍 You can shop eBay, Amazon , auto doc, 👍

Does the changing of the rear discs/pads require special software?

Not really necessary and the wrong diagnostic kit could actually cause a lot of problems! What is more important is having the correct piston wind back tool for left and right handed screw threads, and that the pistons are wound back so the cut outs are horizontal to the callipers. With the piston properly aligned, thepin of the back if the inner brake pad will fit within the cut out, which aids assembly. The post will explain.

What do people think about Delphi, I have to change my front discs and pads and picked up Delphi from my local motor factors.

Thanks Stivino,

Actually, do you know the torque values for the front caliper and carrier. I've read 102 nm for the carrier/bracket and 30 nm for the caliper.

I’ve never torqued one of those, I just make them FT.

What's FT? Assuming t = tight.
