Hi, cylinder 3 will be closer to gearbox, they start to count from timing chain towards transmission.

It's got to be one of the two middle ones on a 2006 (4 cylinder) so we're halfway there. If it was a three cylinder, it'd be dead easy. I'd suggest you count from the driver's side (assuming RHD).

Easy way you always count left to right 12345678910 or you did when I was last a school but I can't remember that far back, what was I on about ho yes or write on paper left to right doesn't matter which hand you write with or march left right left right if you get my drift.

If you have a misfire swap the coil packs between 2 and 3 if the misfire moves you know it's a bad coil - remove the spark plugs and check that they are in good condition it in doubt replace them

If you still have the misfire, the next culprit is a bad fuel injector - these can fail with age and higher mileage

If it's never had a major service, and if it's done 60k or more change the plugs, they should be changed after 60k anyway

As others have said, number 3 cylinder is far one on the right hand side (passenger side).

What mileage has the car done, any evidence of regular servicing, how does the ca run and what makes you think no. 3 is misfiring?

As above, remove the coilpacks and inspect the plugs.  You'll see straightaway which one is misfiring.  Clean carefully and swop two plugs over.  If its still misfiring, swop the coilpacks over.  Spark plugs are really critical to function properly and yet often overlooked.  A cheap and easy tuning mod.

A lot of short town driving trips are not a great and its useful to give the engine a good run.  Do let us know how you get on

Most likely to be a faulty coil, swap their places and see if the fault code moves to another cylinder then replace the coil and new plugs if necessary. Good luck

Then it's very likely a faulty coil pack or plug, try swapping them over to another cylinder as others have suggested.
