EV climbing range

Just if anybody's interested: yesterday took my RAV4 PHEV in pure EV mode (with pretty much full battery) from 480m altitude non-stop to 1900m altitude (fairly full tank of petrol and two occupants), only about 24km distance in the Alps, but with over 30 hairpin bends requiring, as they do, significant acceleration when exiting them , before it switched itself to AUTO EV and the ICE started to kick in. No effort made to cosset the Battery. Temperature between 12º and 7º. I was quite impressed.

Sounds really good the pure effortless torque of the EV system makes for such a smooth drive.  I’ve not experienced anything like you’ve just done but on the hills I’ve driven up in UK it’s impressive.
