Only driven my 2.0 TS about 150 miles but one of the things that has surprised me is how quickly the engine warms up from cold - good for those cold mornings!

My previous Ford ecoboosts (1.0) were supposed to have all the latest features to aid warm up but on the coldest mornings it could take 10 miles or so to get to normal operating temperature.

I read somewhere that the these latest 'Dynamic Force' engines run with lower coolant temperatures so I guess that helps.

Yes, the engine warms up quickly when driving.  Sitting in 'ready' e.g. updating satnav maps, sees the temp climb up or drop down to 'tepid' depending on whether you're starting from cold or after a run.

Agreed. Besides having the electric water pump and split cooling circuits, I'm guessing it helps a lot that the car is able to maintain a more constant load on the ICE by stashing the excess energy in the Battery during moments like waiting at junctions, coasting downhill etc. Perhaps that's the reason why the charge level is typically kept below 100% - to reserve capacity for excess energy expended during warm-up?
