Yaris 1.8 SR aux belt interval?

Hello fellow Toyota lovers,

I've just upgraded my old but brilliant Yaris Mk1 D4D to a 1.8 SR with 81K on the clock. It's been beautifully maintained with full dealer or specialist history, but the aux belt hasn't been changed yet. I can't seem to find the suggested change interval anywhere. Anyone know what it is?

Cheers,

The23rdman

Just checked my service book. Under "Additional inspections (All)",  it has "First at 60,000 miles/6 years" and "After every 10,000 miles/1 year".

No specified change interval listed, only inspect.

The exceptions being GT86 and Verso 1.6D-4D, same time interval but slightly higher mileage.

Thanks, Peter. I think I'll just change it pre-emptively.

I'm going to do the same at the next service, 8 years, Feb. 2022. Not yet at 60k miles but at that age there has to be some deterioration. Preventative is usually better than stuck at the roadside with a broken aux. belt!

My thoughts exactly!

@mrpj it looks like I picked the correct time to do this. This morning the belt started squealing on startup, so I put the fans on full to see what happened. Squeal got louder.

Other than this small issue I love the car. Feels like a grown up warm hatch and a typically solid Toyota. It's such a shame that they don't get much love.

Thanks! I think I've only ever seen one other on the road in Northampton.
