Topping Off Coolant Levels?

Ciao--

My user manual is in Italian and I'm too lazy to decipher it...

At the Toyota dealer yesterday I mentioned I'm going to be driving a lot this August. The mechanic told me to open and fill the radiator and plastic coolant container beside it with water, all the way to the lids. He doubled over when I asked "naturale or frizzante?"

Is that advisable? shouldn't there be some space in there for expansion of fluids when they heat up or anything about mixing water with the coolant (albeit I doubt it would be much).

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

there is no requirement to top up fluids via the radiator as the overflow tank is designed to keep the tank full. as long as your fluid level is between the two marks (full - top up) in the overflow bottle you are OK
