Hi. My Yaris Icon tech 2019 I've noticed is that the steering has gone a tad heavy. It wasn't like that before.

Anyone know why this could be?

Thanks

It might sound stupid, but have you checked your tire pressures, under inflated makes steering harder, over inflated makes steering lighter.

I've not actually but the tyre pressure light hasn't come on.

The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System isn't a replacement for regular tyre pressure checks. It is meant to warn of a large drop in pressure.

Better  to check tyre pressures regularly, in some cases when a light comes on might be too late. Check first your pressures at cold before you drive off in the morning with quality gauge is the best practice, then you can take it from there. In addition to heavy steering If the wheel does not self centre after a turn you may have a problem with motor, gears or steering angle sensor or ecu, sometimes any of those can trigger a fault code but sometimes can be faulty without warning light.👍

As little as 2 psi low can make a difference, now the temperatures overnight have dropped, you will get a drop in tire pressures (colder air is denser)

If you are still having issues, take it to the dealer under warranty (Assuming you have kept it serviced)

If you are look for a decent tire gauge, I highly recommend the Race X analogue gauge, It's a very well-made piece of kit
