Hi,

I don't normally get the car MOT 'd at Toyota. Haha, it's a costly one £460 all in(4 hours estimate labour).Genuine part.

Assume your "Haha" means you realise they are taking the wee wee.

Seem to remember that when needing to repair my rear brake pipes I did enquire with a local Toyota dealer just to see if they did the original pipes at a reasonable  price but was told the do not ship them due to the length /fragility etc. using coiled pipe like elsewhere.

If it they did fit a genuine original  part , 4 hours for two nuts on one pipe is unbelievable.

Why did you take it to Toyota anyways ?   if you want an independent test then use your local councils MOT test center, its the full £54.85 fee but they can only do the test, they cannot do  or even recommend any garage for any repairs needed.   As all taxis have to use the councils mot centre and  their testers know Toyotas inside out so they really do a good thorough  job.

Yeah, the main reason I went to Toyota was for a couple of reasons.

I wanted the ABS sensors looked at, as wanted a definitive answer on the grinding sound when braking.

Secondly, I was having a few issues with 5th gear slipping into neutral on long journeys. Guessed it required a gearbox oil change. I was along the right lines, the 5th gear shaft nut was burring into casing and losing oil!

The dealer visit is a one off 😂
