avensis t27 d4d year 2010 126 hp alternator dead?

signal lamp Battery always on
Battery no longer charging

what can I measure first, which fuses,
is not easy to replace alternator, the cardan shaft has to come out itself, is in the way

DId replacing the alternator fix the issue? I also had one that went out recently which is common for these engines.

yes, reconditioned alternator in place.

I had to grind and weld two socket wrenches for it, to loosen the central bolt of the cardan .

hmm, bit unusual then - afaik that engine isn't known for dodgy alternators unlike, say, the 1CD-FTV! Just a bit of bad luck I guess!

hi there quick question when comes to these 1ADFTV  engines i used to have one of the vw group 1.9tdi engines and well when came to the starter motor and alternator on eBay u could have bought brushes puck and solenoid for the starter motor and bought a rectifier for the alternator to recon them yourself .can this not be done to these toyota engine as just interested if can be done as when doiung this to those 1.9 tdi engines was a real easy job as i did it to mine
