Michelin Cross Climate SUV tyres

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience using these tyres, I'm near the south coast so I don't think I will need full winter tyres but I do go on rough tracks quite a bit.

The tyres will be on my Rav4 AWD Hybrid 2020 model.

Thanks

Yes, I run Cross Climates on mine (as do several others) - they are a good all season tyre and suit the car very well.

Since you are on the south coast you may well be able to get away with summer tyres all year round - depending on what you do in the winter of course. But otherwise I can't see any need for dedicated cold weather tyres - all season tyres should do just fine.

But the Cross Climates are, essentially road / soft roader style tyres. They are OK on grass and gravel etc. but don't pretend to be "all terrain" tyres ...

I’ve run CrossClimate and CrossClimate SUV tyres on a number of cars and clocked up a decent amount of mileage over the years. When I’m ready to change the tyres on the PHEV that is what I will buy, probably the new CrossClimate 2 tyre which is an improvement on the original.  They have the 3 mountain mark so good for all the year even though designated at ‘summer’ tyres.  I driven these in deep snow and have had no problems.  Like any tyre they will not be brilliant on ice but one of the areas I always want a tyre to perform is standing water in the cold, a real test, and the CrossClimates have always performed well.

Thanks for the replies.

I've read a couple of reviews saying they are noisy on motorways.

Have you experienced loud road/tyre noise or similar?

Thanks

No I don’t think they are noisy when compared to the OEM tyres which the new cars I’ve bought come fitted. I’ve had them fitted on 3 cars to date and do use the motorways a reasonable percentage of my trips.

Mine are fine, no worse than the OE ones I briefly had. Couple of 200 mile trips to Devon and easy to talk to the rear seat passenger.

  • 2 weeks later...

I changed the tyres from the Dunlop Grandtrek to Cross Climates as soon as I bought the car in 2019. One reason was that I could not get a fifth Dunlop for the new spare wheel, the other was that I lived in Scotland at the time where the weather can be bad.

We also fitted cross climates to my wife’s Lexus CT. On both cars the ride and noise was improved no end, and they certainly shift standing water well. Very pleased with them.

i fitted 4 cross climates to the road wheels and kept a Dunlop on the spare because the cross climates are directional so would only be safe on one side of the car. I swap front to rear periodically.
