Number Plates

Hi everyone, i had a completely mad idea that im keeping under wraps for a little while as i dont think anyone has done it but i need some help,

Does anyone know if it is illegal to change your number plate from a rectangle uk style to a square motorbike uk stlye one???

I was told by my mate that unless its an import the number plates all have to be the rectangle shape but i thought he was wrong because of the amount of motors tht change them?

Any ideas people?!?

Oh and has anyone heard from andrew (toyotasera.co.uk) recently i havent heard from him in a while and am desperate to contact him.

you can put standard square size number plates on your car no problem mate, not agenst the law.

Rectangular plates are allowed.

Imports have a caveat that say that if the provision for the number plate does not permit fitting of a plate with standard size UK lettering, then smaller digits can be used to reduce the side of the plate.

This applies to American and Japanese imports as they do not allow a normal size plate to fit nicely.
