Update on this topic. Went armed with this Service Bulletin last week when taking the Yaris in for a service.

After an hour of investigation and claiming no knowledge of the bulletin or issues with front parking system, they confirmed there is indeed a bulletin. They have now arranged a date to fit a new ECU. This is provided under the service warranty - car is now 6 years-old.

Hopefully, this will correct the issue and they refit everything to standard I expect.

Hello @Starensis, have you been able to get the new ecu installed yet?

Hi - yes, had it changed last week. Apparently they accessed it via removal of glovebox and another trim panel. Double-side taped to another component.

It seems to have fixed the issue. No false triggers. 👍

They also re-serviced the car; after I found they hadn’t changed pollen filter - even though they’d charged for it! 😡

Thanks for the help and replies. 👍👍

I wonder what dealer that was? (Ironic question)

@starensis that is great news about the fix but not good at all about them 'missing' the change of pollen filter!!  It infuriates me that manufacturers expect / want you to use their dealer network for servicing and yet time and time again they often fail to do the job properly whereas a lot of independent garages do brilliant work everytime.  I've had the following as examples -

Toyota Yaris - deliberately ran washer fluid extremely low so that they could refill.  Got car from service and although they had charged for screen wash they hadn't put any (or even water) into reservoir - it was still close to empty.

Lexus - collected from service at Reading and around 200 miles / two weeks later oil level warning lit up!  Checked oil level and it needed 3 litres to bring it back to full on dipstick so went back to Reading.  They said not their fault as would have filled properly so there must be a leak somewhere but they couldn't find it and of course I could not disprove they had not filled it properly originally but guess what only needed 1 litre added over the next year / 7,000 miles and from then on serviced at different Lexus dealer and never an issue with oil useage.

Mazda MX5 60,000 miles service and due for brake fluid change and they charged for it however at work we established it had not been changed at all!  The dealer principal got involved and in fairness to them took car back did the brake fluid and refunded me for every part used during that service!

Also same MX5 had K&N air filter and I told them not to touch it but on the bill after service they had charged for the replacement new air filter.  I told them to immediately remove this from bill and give me back my K&N filter and while they went to 'find' my K&N filter I went out to car to remove their filter only to find that my K&N air filter was actually still on my car.

The worse I had though that was seriously dangerous was with a company Renault Laguna.  Car was taken in by AA to Olympian Renault Bournemouth due to a total brake failure on a country road in Dorset.  Luckily going under 30mph at time when it happened and no vehicles in front on country road so was able to use handbrake to come to a halt.  They had the car 3 days and told me ready for collection so I went in handed lease loan car keys to them for the lease company (PHH) to collect next day.  Got into car and started moving off their forecourt and when I got to exit ..... totally no brakes at all again!!!!!!!!!!  Ended up sticking out into the side road that their business adjoined.  Went back in and shouted at the service manager I had just seen a few minutes before and demanded my loan lease car keys back.  While another member of staff got them and I phoned the lease company and they told me to make sure everything personal removed from the company car as I would not be seeing it for a while and also to get them to put car onto forecourt I had to deadlock it and retain keys and not to let them have the keys under any circumstances.  They arranged for two people to come to my home next day with a trailer to collect keys and then they collected my car from the dealer and took it back somewhere for investigation.  A week later I was told to hold onto loan lease car and that I would be getting a new car order list as I needed to order a new company car.  Turned out they held onto my Laguna for a few months and took legal action against Olympian Renault as from the report issued by the AA and their investigation Olympian Renault had not only done nothing at all but allowed a dangerous non roadworthy vehicle to be released.

Ended up that Olympian Renault were banished from doing any work for any PHH lease cars and they got charged a hefty fine.

I have just looked them up on the web and it appears that they have either folded or shrunk as an operation as when I used them they had 9 dealerships.  Looking at reviews I am not surprised as it seems there was some crazy servicing done on peoples cars.

I just bought a 2018 Yaris Hibrid. I like the car very much, but in town the proximity sensor drives me crazy. Every time I come to a full stop, or get within 10 or 15 feet from the car in front of me, or pedestrians cross in a cross walk, the thing beeps, and keeps beeping for a few seconds even after every thing is clear and I have started on my way. I know there is a button to silence it, but I am pushing the button every couple of minutes. Is there any way to turn down the sensitivity, or to disable it entirely?

not sure if you are on about the parking sensors or about the old models but I know you can turn off the parking assist sensors in mine and adjust the volume. Its controlled on mine from the main screen info centre. I can also change the distance on the front and rear centre

You need the ECU replaced the code is AC-00186T-TME. We had same thing on 2017 model. It’s fine now except the back parking sensors make no sound at all. I found the information on this forum, but I just made a screen shot so I don’t know date it was posted.

I found information regarding annoying beeping. It was 11th August 2023. Posted by Juicedrinker69. My thanks, it saved my sanity.

I'm glad I found this post, our 2018 Yaris Hybrid is doing the same thing. Just going down our drive with a "hedge" either side and it is bleeping like mad, it is so annoying.
