Valve clearances + adjustment

I might have to adjust the valves on my car to make my engine last a bit longer, they're a common Toyota solid bucket (no shims) under camshaft lobe design (1zzfe engine), now I think I can take off the valve cover and check the clearances ok, but has anyone done and got any tips on actually changing the buckets a bit easier it sounds a real pain to do diy, you've got to remove the top of the camchain remove the camshaft s and measure and swap the buckets?

Cheers for any tips or encouragement
